Costume:

In the opening sequence, and throughout the whole of the story line, costume plays an important role to show which person belongs to each gang. We are trying to show the difference between the black ethnic background and their apparel, alongside the asian ethnic background and their apparel as well.

The Saints :
Their main symbol or "Tag" is the fleur de lys

This symbol shows that this gang is wealthy as it is commonly used on old victorian buildings, and wallpapers that appear in very wealthy environments.

Typical clothing of The Saints, this gang would normally wear casual clothes, consisting of hoodies and tracksuit bottoms, as this type of clothing best suits them.

Black Stars

This is their main emblem, as it represents the weaponry they most likely use, which is the shuriken, which is a small but lethal weapon, also describing the gang, as they are as clean cut as this emblem is.
Their attire consists of expensive designer labels, and smart outfits, sometimes with suits, and Fedora's.

Title production

We used www.dafont.com and photoshop to produce a suitable title style for our film name. At www.dafont.com there are a variety of font styles and colours to choose from. We used the graffiti style to emphasize on the ghetto gangster life. We took a picture of a fire ball from google as it shows the conflict between the two gangs. The title was then merged into the fire ball picture.

In this test video, I tested out an effect on final cut pro, where by doing this it will give a sort of distorted effect at the beginning of the frame.

In this comedy/action film, we are interested in the two gangs, and the way they are outfitted with costume and props, with one gang dressed in very formal clothing, whereas the other gang are dressed in their own casual clothing.

Main ideas:

General outline of movie
: The movie is a British gangster genre, which revolves around the "Life in the day of" style of a drug dealer. The movie is set in the heart of St. Pauls, Bristol as this gives a general idea of the surrounding area and people. Throughout the film, the main character has various situations leading to conflict with the opposing gang. The two rival gangs are called "The Saints" and "The Black Stars". The two gangs have been tolerant with each other from a long family history. Until the meeting of the two opposing gang members start to have an affair with one of their daughters. Towards the end of the movie, it ends with a brutal killing of the member which catches up with the beginning of the movie.

In the film Shifty, it gives a very interesting insight into the a "Life in the day of" style of a drug dealer, how friendship and loyalty has great importance, and that he relies a lot on close friends.

In Memento's opening sequence, we are most interested last part of the opening sequence, where the extract is edited to reverse in time, this gives an interested aspect to the movie, as it shows the action he has committed first, then rewinds to show the viewer what the picture is really about.

Napoleon Dynamite Opening Credits

The opening credits of Napoleon Dynamite has a very clever composition, as all of the credits are introduced in physical form, rather than the regular digital title sequences seen in most other opening sequences. Taking inspiration from this sequence, we can apply similar properties to our opening sequence.
